Taking Responsibility For Keeping Track Of Your Personal Health Information

Your Medical Records

I believe it is in every adult's best interest to maintain copies of their own health care records. This not only places control of your health information in your own hands, but it allows care providers with whom you share it to consult with one another on a unified plan.

Cutting edge technology in the development of free Personal Health Records makes this much easier. Many are completely free. For my own health-care, with my doctors, I use one of the services listed below. I do not require that my clients use a web-based interface, but I do recommend them because I believe they allow for better quality and more efficient care.

Online Record Storage Sites

There is a lot to be said for keeping track of your health information in a secure online website where it can be accessed (with your consent) by your healthcare providers, EMS workers in an emergency, or by yourself anywhere you may be.

These are a few examples of sites worth taking a look at to see if one might be for you.

You might also check with your insurance company or doctor to see if either of them offer secure medical record portals similar to the ones listed above.
