Among his last acts before leaving office, Gov. Goerge Pataki signed a bill that requires "parity" in the coverage that insurance companies provide to mental health treatment (incluiding addiction treatment) as compared to the coverage that they provide to illnesses that are more commonly viewed as physically-rooted.
